Neil Maitland, 64, died on Wednesday, August 29, at Mulberry Health where he resided the past seven years. He was born in Michigan City to Lawrence and Olga Maitland.
Neil grew up in Beverly Shores, IN. He had a wonderful childhood with great friends. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing hockey at the “pond”, working on vehicles, playing the drums, and hiking at the Indiana Dunes State Park. Neil attended Elston High School and was a proud graduate of Purdue University. Neil became an alarm technician, then started his own business, Liberty Alarm Company. He was very thorough as he provided peace of mind to his customers.
Neil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. Neil and Barbara were married for 29 years. They have one daughter, Kathleen, whom Neil adored. She is definitely a Daddy’s Girl. He lit up when his granddaughter Aryanna visited. Neil was kind, compassionate, loyal, witty, and hard working. He liked time with family and friends, nature, and music.
